To the Brethren of the Province of East Anglia
Dear Brethren,
I am writing this letter to you all, simply to say “thank you” for the kindness, friendship and generosity shown to me at our Provincial meeting, and indeed throughout my years in Provincial Office.
Serving as your Deputy Provincial Grand Master for the past five and a half years, and before that as Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies for a further five, has been one of the greatest privileges of my Masonic life. I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment, especially the opportunity to visit our lodges across East Anglia, to share in your meetings and, most importantly, to spend time in the company of so many good friends both old and new.
I felt very emotional listening to the kind words from our Provincial Grand Master and then receiving your generous gift, both of which meant a great deal to me. I can assure you the money will be put to good use because I already have my eye on a much needed new watch. In addition the beautiful flowers which were sent to my wife Wendy was such a thoughtful gift and was really appreciated.
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish my successor, W.Bro Mark Cook, a very happy and successful term in office. He takes on the role with my full support and I am sure will enjoy it every bit as much as I have.
Finally brethren, although I have stepped down from office, I have certainly not disappeared or emigrated and will still look forward to visiting your lodges in the future. What I do have though is a little more free time on my hands to enjoy a few more rounds of golf, and to spend time with my family.
Thank you all once again, it has been an honour and a pleasure to serve you.
With kindest regards
Gary Allen
