On Saturday 12th October Trevor and Karen Tinley, Gary and Wendy Allen, with Jenny and I attended the Cambridgeshire Search and Rescue facility at Pymoor Nr Ely to present CAMSAR with a cheque for £5,165.00 of your money Brethren from the EAMBA for the purchase of a Mavic 3 Thermal Drone to assist them in their efforts regarding search and rescue in the Cambridgeshire area.
We were privileged to have a demonstration of such a impressive piece of equipment, and an explanation of its uses to cover such a large area in the shortest period of time, whilst were were not privy to certain details due to data protection it was emphasised that drone use had assisted in many rescues that the Lowland Rescue team were involved in, including assisting the police in search and rescue.
The demonstration was very impressive, but in the hands of two very experienced and trained drone pilots who made it look extremely easy.
The passion of the Lowland Rescue team was evident and the appreciation of such a piece of equipment was a “game changer” to their work of which is all done by volunteers at any time of day or night.
I am sure the Province of East Anglia wish them well in their future endeavours and will look forward to updates when and if they are allowed to communicate of its use.
