Wroxham Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners marked just over 50 years since their Consecration with a Provincial Visit, an Elevation and a surprise presented to two Provincial Officers by the Provincial Grand Master David Boswell. The official celebration had been held last year, but being a summer lodge and Consecrated in the winter of 1973, it is only now that 50 years of continuous working has taken place – another excuse for a celebration!
David Young had the privilege to be Elevated at this special meeting, a member of Ernest Hines Mark Lodge to which Wroxham RAM is moored. An excellent ceremony performed by WCN Robert Wood, Jeremy Lovejoy giving the signs and Andrew Cooke with his first presentation of the Working Tools.
After the ceremony, the WCN offered the Sceptre to the PGM for him to take the Chair for an overview of the lodge history and presentation of a certificate to acknowledge 50 years of continuous working. The certificate was read by the Prov Secretary Terry Larkowsky and presented to the WCN by the PGM.
While occupying the Chair, the PGM used the privilege of the position he holds to award Royal Ark Mariner Provincial Grand Rank to Prov Secretary Terry Larkowsky and Assistant Provincial Grand Master David Good, which was welcomed with applause by those present.
As if that was not enough, the lodge made a donation of £750 to Caister Independent Lifeboat, which is based on the nearby Norfolk coast. This was presented by the WCN and PGM to Jason Delf, who is a member of the lodge and a Director of the lifeboat.
After the meeting was concluded, fifty four brethren enjoyed a splendid Festive Board and raised a further £240 for lodge charity funds. In his speech, the PGM especially thanked Scribe Mike Hall and DC Andrew Seaman for their hard work for the lodge over many years.
