Provincial Grand Master David Boswell, accompanied by his wife Jenny plus Deputy PGM Gary Allen and Assistant PGM David Good, visited the operating headquarters of Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue in Wroxham, to present a cheque to Incident Commander Daniel Vanstone. The donation of £6,764 will fund the purchase of a new underwater sonar system. The donation comes from our very own charity, the East Anglian Mark Benevolent Association.
The sonar is deployed along with their remotely operated underwater vehicle to assist in searching the many rivers and Broads in Norfolk and Suffolk. The charity is a completely independent organisation that receives no funding from Councils or Central Government and is staffed 100% by volunteers.
They are often called in by the Fire Service and Police to assist in searching for missing persons in our waterways.
This funding follows on from an EAMBA match funded donation by Eversley Mark Lodge. Having brought the Lowland Search and Rescue to the attention of the Province and EAMBA, it was decided to support the charity operations in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. Funds have been given to Cambridgeshire for a high tech drone, with Suffolk being supported to buy defibrillators.
