Eversley Mark in Sheringham made a £200 donation to Norfolk Lowland Search and Rescue, then made a successful match funding application to the East Anglian Mark Benevolent Association, giving a total donation of £400.
The charity was looking to raise £6,300 to purchase much needed sonar equipment, which currently has to be brought in from other counties, to help search for missing people.
At the presentation, Eversley lodge WM Mike Pardon, Secretary Martin Gude, Deputy PGM Gary Allen and EAMBA Secretary Tom Auber heard how the charity self funded, staffed by volunteers and gives vital assistance to the emergency services, but only occasionally recognised in the media when a missing person is reported and a search undertaken, sometimes with a tragic outcome.
Everyone was so impressed with the work of NLSAR, that the EAMBA have now agreed to fund the total purchase of the sonar equipment, a total donation of £6,300.
This shows the value of EAMBA match funding, which is open to all Mark and RAM lodges. You can find the application form on the Provincial website.
